Consent

Nothing should be done to you without your consent.

Cervical exams, urine drug screens, continuous fetal monitoring - these are all presented as "routine parts of care". Routine may be common, but it does not replace consent.

It is okay for you to decline or say no to anything that you are not comfortable with or do not fully understand yet.

You always have the right to ask questions, and have them answered.

You always have the right to request a pause, and to have that request respected.

You always have the right to say no.

Coercion is NOT Consent.

Pregnancy is a scary time.

Recovery is a scary time.

Using someone's fear to manipulate them into doing what you want (even if it is fueled by an intention to do "what is best for them") is never okay.

Using fear to manipulate someone into compliance is not consent.
